Meet your clown!

cARTel is hosting another clown workshop! In the last year alone, we birthed over 300 clowns in Los Angeles and New York City. Now it's your turn to find out, "Who is my clown?"

This two-day, six-hour, hand-on workshop will be held Wednesday, February 15th from 7:30-10:30 PM and Saturday, February 18th from 12:30-3:30 PM at the Hayworth Theater (2511 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90057) If you can only make one of these dates, that's okay too, we can make it work and give you a shortened version of the training!

This particular form of performance clowning, invented by UCI Chair and Acting Professor Eli Simon and further developed by the people at cARTel, is based on the idea that every person has a clown persona already living inside of them. This workshop will be a 6 hour crash course instructing the participants in the rules of clowning and introducing them to the alternate persona they may or may not have known was living inside of them. Throughout the course participants will enjoy crafting a skill that focuses on developing eye contact, embracing artistic impulses, and creating strong physical comedy pieces through one solid character. Note: This form is very different from "Birthday" or even regular "Circus" clowning. Each performer, over time, creates an intricate, fully-dimensional, emotional characters, who then can interact with their world with or without a director present. We believe in honesty over being funny- which often produces hilarious and heartbreaking results.

As a troupe, Everybody Nose collaborates together to create boundary-pushing, exciting theater that can make an audience go from laughter to tears in a matter of moments. By putting on this workshop, we're giving you the opportunity to share this experience with us.
