William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing- The cARTel Artists' first venture into "spectacular" theatre. Our version of this married conventions of old theater with the new. The composer for this show, cARTel Ensemble member Nick Refuerzo, took 70's pop music, translated it to Italian, and then put it to renaissance music to give the audience an eclectic taste of the familiar while delightfully shocking them at the same time. The dynamic setting of Aldrich Park's famed "Rock Garden" served as the perfect canvas for a show described as bold, fantastical, and utterly romantic. Going from Pterodactyls and our small cast and crew of eight to Much Ado with a cast and crew of over forty people was no easy task, but one that director Negin Singh was excited to tackle. The park at night was alive with color, music, champagne, and incredible performances by a beautiful cast. Over 400 people supported with work with their donations, and cARTel was able to donate 2/3 of the money to charities picked by the cast and crew.
