We Are Gathered here - cARTel's Fifth Annual Living Room Tour Production

Off the Stage and Onto Your Couch: The Living Room Tour

Dust off the lamps and straighten up those coffee table books -- cARTel is bringing theatre to a living room near you!  Since 2007, we've been commissioning original work from up-and-coming artists we love and thrusting their work straight into homes all across Southern California.  This touring theatre series has hit up living rooms from Hollywood to Orange County to the Valley to Monrovia and everywhere in between.  Each show's house host provides food, refreshments and art to enliven the night and enhance the Living Room Tour experience, transforming a night of theatre into a social event. It's all part of our mission to bring new plays and eager audiences together in the most accessible space possible: your living room.

Our 5th annual Living Room Tour, written by Joe Drescher and directed by Alina DeBellis (assistant directed by Laura Cheek), follows an anxious groom-to-be named Ben.  The night before his wedding, the unexpected occurs, forcing Ben to talk it all out -- his hopes, fears and doubts -- with the people who know him best.  Or rather, the night before his wedding, Ben has it talked out for him -- those very same hopes, fears and doubts.  It's a comedy about love, life and commitment... or rejection, despair and humiliation... depending on how you look at it.

CAST BIOS

Peter Berube graduated from Central Connecticut State University with BFA degrees in Acting and Directing. Peter works all over Los Angeles as a director, writer and fight choreographer for theater and film.

Andrew Crabtree is very excited to work with cARTel and was most recently seen in Very Still and Hard To See at the Lex Theatre.  Other LA credits include Expecting to Fly, Gospel According to First Squad (Ovation Nomination, LA Weekly nomination), Nation of Two and Trog and Clay.  Additional credits include Pillowman, Barefoot in the Park, Urinetown, and Oklahoma!, among others.

Olivia Cristina Delgado is a graduate of the LACC Theater Academy and a soon-to-be UC Irvine grad with a BA in Psychology.  She is proud and excited to have worked and continue to work with such insightful, ingenious writers and directors.  Olivia adores alliteration and assonance and aspires to one day be funny on purpose.

Caity Engler has been stalking cARTel since hearing about it through her UCLA amigos, and is pretty excited that stalking has now turned into performing with them.  When not acting or producing, Caity bakes and does triathlons to counteract said baking.  Recently she's been on stage yelling at everyone as Adriana in the Los Angeles Theatre Ensemble's production of The Comedy of Errors, on camera covered in blood in the indie thriller Easy Come Easy Go, and on her couch watching any Olympics coverage available. Gloria a Dios.

Emma Fassler is happy to embark on this Living Room Tour, and is looking forward to encountering many couches and surprises in the process of doing so.  She was most recently seen on stage at the Laguna Playhouse in the world premiere of Tickled Pink and in The Los Angeles Theatre Ensemble's Scriptyard series, performing in the play Ladies by Kit Steinkellner.  Thank you to Alina and cARTel.

Melissa Recalde, originally from south Texas, studied and trained at the University of Texas at Austin, where she received her MFA in Acting, and Stephen F. Austin State University, graduating with a BA in Theatre and English.  She is thrilled to be a part of this project, as she is a huge fan of cARTel and the type of work the ensemble produces.
